Description
Congressman Arch A. Moore, Jr. reviewing the coal industry presentation on the necessity to restrict residual fuel oil imports and to maintain a mandatory imports program with the Industry's officials. Dr. Potter presented testimony on behalf of the bituminous coal operators and the United Mine Workers, pointing out the abuses that result from imported foreign oil upon the economy of coal producing states and the miners. From left to right: Mr. Stephen F. Dunn, President of National Coal Association; Dr. C.J. Potter, President of Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal Company; Congressman Moore; Mr. Joseph E. Moody, President of National Coal Policy Conference and Mr. Michael Widman, Assistant to the President of United Mine Workers.

Outlook for legislation that will affect the coal industry is being discussed by Congressman Arch A. Moore, Jr. (center) with Robert E. Lee Hall, vice president of the National Coal Association (right) and G. Don Sullivan associate director of Government Relations. They agreed that residual oil imports and subsidized atomic electric power are the major threats to continued increase in coal output, which that year will exceed 500 million tons. West Virginia's production, which accounts for almost one-third of the nation's total, is running at more than 7 percent above the 1964 output.
